What We Do

We are  a community based philanthropy grantmaking initiative that uses a social equity lens to invest in communities and nonprofit organizations to provide them access to unrestricted funding to fulfill their vision. We work in partnership with our grant recipients and follow their lead to support the priorities of their community members. We do this by providing crisis relief, community support and collaborative investment grants.

  • We envision a world where the most marginalized people, communities and nonprofits have all the resources they need to thrive.

We hope to inspire the philanthropic community to be easier to access and to make the grantmaking process easier and more collaborative.

  • The Social Equity Access Fund practices innovative philanthropy and supports quality arts & education, economic stability, community viability, and human dignity.

  • Mutual trust, respect, transparency, collaboration, inclusion, and intersectional solidarity.

How We Are Different

Due to social inequality and biases within traditional philanthropy, many nonprofit organizations do not receive the funding that would enable them to respond to the needs of their communities.  They struggle to provide their services at full or optimal capacity, and they are not able either to innovate or scale up their successful programs.

The Social Equity Access Fund aims to change that.

How

We listen to and support the visions of BIPOC community leaders, learning from their wisdom, and following their lead on when, where and how to best invest in their own communities. We empower community voices and amplify their decision-making efforts, enabling their own aspirations.

  • We invest in revolutionary and transformative social justice projects that show promising impact in reducing inequalities and promoting inclusion.

  • We work collaboratively in the community, elevating change-making leaders and forging partnerships with those whose lived experience positions them closest to the challenges we are all trying to solve together.

  • We are democratizing the field of philanthropy by yielding power, sharing networks and giving more resources to communities, with fewer strings attached.

  • We find local community-based organizations and leaders that can address the issues, and together, we practice community philanthropy.
